ALEXANDER THE GREAT TOUR: WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF A LEGEND
Experience the history of ancient Macedonia in this Alexander the Great Tour.
Alexander the Great was, hands down, one of the most fascinating personalities that ever existed and definately one of the most influential people of ancient Greece and Europe altogether. Becoming King of Macedon by the age of 20 as Alexander III, he managed to create one of the largest empires that ever existed in just 13 years, before his eventual death at the age of 33 in the city of Babylon.
Alexander created an empire whose size is difficult to grasp. With a sense of adventure and a strategic mind unparalleled to any other he managed to take the Greeks where they had never been before and explore new worlds.
In this Alexander the Great Tour we are going to visit some of the most important locations that have to do with Alexander: the archaeological site of Pella – his birthplace and capital of his Kingdom, and also Vergina – tomb of his father, the great King Philip II.
A modern air-conditioned car or minivan is going to transfer us through the Macedonian plain all the way to Pella. There, we are going to visit the archaeological museum and learn about all the artifacts that have been found during the excavations of the site. After that we are going to visit the archaeological site itself, before our driver takes us to Vergina to enjoy one of the most fascinating sites Greece has to offer: the tomb of Macedonian King Phillip II. The way back to Thessaloniki is less than an hour long and of course lunch is possible at any step of the way!
