Hello everybody!
My name is Nikos Chatziioannou. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki and this is where I make a living as a professional licensed tourist guide.
I have studied History & Archaeology at the University of Ioannina and I have an MA in History from Thessaloniki’s International University but, even though I have a strong background in history and archaeology, I strongly believe that a guided tour should not be just facts and dates. It should also be about the place itself: the people, the anecdotes, the stories that do not fit into history books. So, hopefully, together we are going to not only explore the history and the sights of this magnificent place but also feel the beating heart of the city.
I have been providing tours professionally in Thessaloniki and all over Greece for a few years now, but every time feels like a fresh start. There is nothing like being outside, in the open air, with good company and showing the place you love, sharing the details and secrets that make it special. And if I can show you why this place is special to me, then it will become special to you too!
I have a few tours planned but, please, do not hesitate to ask me about anything you might want anywhere in northern Greece or even all over the country. Share your idea and together we are going to create a brand new experience!
I hope I will have the chance to meet you and show you around but, if not, enjoy Thessaloniki, enjoy Macedonia, enjoy this amazing place!

He guided our family of 12 through the streets of Thessoliniki and brought the city to life for us. He hit all the highlights and recommended and arranged a fabulous lunch for us at the end. Highly recommend Nikos!Posted on Google Rebecca HumphreyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just got back from a 10 day tour-intensive trip to Greece. Nikos is probably my favorite tour guide. He’s very knowledgeable, nerdy, and funny—everything one would want in a guide. He and his driver were waiting for us at the port in Thessaloniki when we left our cruise ship. We did his Alexander the Great tour, where we got to visit Pella and Vergina. Do yourself a favor, if you’re going on a cruise, don’t book tours through the cruise line. We did two tours through our cruise line and they were terribly boring. The tour guides sounded like they were reading a script. Lesson learned—I will always book a private guide from now on. I’m wish Nikos could have been our guide on every tour!Posted on Google Amanda WynnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Took a food tour around the city with Nikos on June 24. Nikos was warm and welcoming and so knowledgeable! I learned a lot and had so much fun on our tour. Highly recommend for anyone traveling with friends or solo.Posted on Google Chris DemirisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We completely enjoyed this private tour around Thessaloniki. Our guide Nikki planed the journey based on our desires. We hit all the key sites with ample time at easy stop. Nikki’s knowledge of the area allowed us to learn mush about this fabulous city. We highly recommend this tour.Posted on Google JulieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Merci Nikos pour le tour culinaire ! C'était vraiment top, on a adoré ! Merci encore, on recommande vivement !Posted on Google Scott RichardsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Twice now Nikos has lead excellent tours for me. The first was a deep dive into the Churches of Thessaloniki. I gave him a few thoughts on what interested me, and he well exceeded what I had in mind. And, it rained all day but that didn’t slow Nikos! Second time he guided my family in and around Meteora. Highly recommend him for any size group, big or small, Nikos will show you the heart of Greece!Posted on Google Donna HollandTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our guide, Nikos Chatziioannou was simply fantastic. He was not only knowledgeable about the local cuisine but also passionate about Thessaloniki's rich history and food culture. He navigated us through the city and introduced us to food that we would have never found on our own. I highly recommend this tour.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
